Help me to raise funds on behalf of Charity called
‘Hope and Aid Direct’
About the Charity
Hope and Aid Direct is a Registered Charity that delivers Humanitarian Aid; usually in a convoy of Lorries, and usually twice a year, directly into the hands of the people that need it. Currently the charity is concentrating effort in Kosovo, but also taken aid to Belarus, sent aid to Zambia and Sri Lanka, and some of our people helped in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami. Our work is carried out entirely by volunteers (ordinary people) who raise their own funds, gather together their own aid, source their own transport, (7.5 ton Lorries, typically drivable on a normal car driving license), drive those Lorries to their destination, and then finally undertake the distribution. Hope and Aid Directs’ Volunteers come from every corner of the UK (and sometimes abroad) and from all walks of life. Hope and Aid Direct have been involved in various projects such as rebuilding.
My campaign objective is to raise funds in the shortest possible time to enable me to transport aid (food, clothing, etc) in a truck convoy to Kosovo where along with other convoy team members directly distribute the aid to families who really need it. There are much costs involved in the project in like hiring a truck, fuel costs, ferry fees, toll fees, food, sustenance and numerous other costs.Items and Experiences for Auction/Sale (either secured or obtainable)
I need to raise the funds for the trip. This is not a cheap trip and in no way a holiday the recommended amount that I need to raise is between £2,000 and £3,000. I am looking for an individual or a company who might be able to sponsor me.
My wife and I are an English couple looking for jobs in New Zealand or Australia. I am seeking employment in the road Transport Industry and my wife is looking for work in the Pharmaceutical industry. We have both travelled extensively to many different countries and we love New Zealand and Australia. I have held my class one licence (class 5 in New Zealand and class HC in Australia) since 1993. I gained my class one licence (class 5 in New Zealand and class HC in Australia) while working for an international removals company in Derby, UK. This was extremely varied work and I became well travelled in the process both internationally and locally. I then went on to working for a blue chip company called British Road Services (BRS). I drove a huge range of vehicles from class one (class 5 in New Zealand and class HC in Australia) to wagon and drag. I was working on the hazardous transportation side, as an all-rounder driver. I worked on collection and delivery and also as the relief night trunker. I had extensive training in various expects of haulage from tachograph laws and defensive driving techniques.
I had a career break from haulage to work as a volunteer, working with people with disabilities and gained a job as an advocate for a charity organisation. I was encouraged to study Business and Finance and Counselling Skills. As the job was only for a 4-year contract with no guarantee of funding, I still had my hand in haulage working for different employment agencies for class one weekend work, which kept my skill levels up.
In April 2002 I applied for a working visa for Australia, which I dully received and I went to work for a removals company in Sydney Australia for 6 months. I had a lot of exposure from the removal company and how haulage works in Australia.
At present I’m a self-employed class one-driver (class 5 in New Zealand and class HC in Australia) and joint owner of a small business with my wife. My wife and I are traders in Fancy goods and giftware on the Internet and at different shows in the UK. My main responsibilities are route planning, booking shows for our team to go to during the week and part of the administration duties. I also manage and update our business website, during the day. At night I contract myself to a local hauler as a shunt driver at a local concrete manufacturing company. I am also a self-employed class one driver (class 5 in New Zealand and class HC in Australia) for an employment agency for weekend work, which is extremely varied. I have worked on taut liner work, which is of the general haulage nature and refrigerated transport. With my personality and my excellent customer service skills I have found the companies I have worked for as an agency driver ask for me again and again.
I am fully conversant with reading road maps and how to get from A to B using direct road systems. I have learnt how to get the most out of fuel consumption and most importantly the safe stowage of loads.
My wife’s working background is from the pharmaceutical industry. She has been a pharmaceutical sales representative for the major players in the industry for over ten years. Due to hard work and dedication in a very tough industry, she has won various awards and recognitions that includes “Medical Representative of the Year”, “Quota-Buster of the Year”, “Rookie of the Year”, “Grand Slam Award,” to name a few.
After getting married, she changed career paths and become self employed. She is a partner in our own fancy goods business after having been a contractor manager for a leading newsagents group in the country. She is currently running our fancy goods internet business and helping out in our weekend trading at various fairs in the county.
Having had various working experiences, she is very adaptable to different working environments and cultures and deals with people very well. She is very hard working and could easily be trained to any line of work.
